FAA NOTAM System Switchover Set to Impact BizAv Operations
The Federal Aviation Administration will take its legacy NOTAM system offline on April 18 between 0000 and 0400 EDT as it transitions to the new NOTAM Management Service. The planned switchover marks a significant step in modernising critical flight information infrastructure.

During the outage window, operators may experience limited access to real-time NOTAM updates, requiring increased reliance on pre-flight planning and alternative briefing sources. For business aviation, where last-minute changes and dynamic routing are common, this short disruption window could impact flight planning and dispatch coordination.

The new system is designed to improve reliability, data accuracy and distribution speed, addressing long-standing concerns around the legacy platform. Once fully operational, it is expected to deliver clearer, more accessible NOTAM information to pilots and operators.

Flight departments and crews are advised to review NOTAMs ahead of the transition period and plan accordingly, particularly for overnight operations or early departures.
